When I would first watch videos of TPC's events I felt like it was just what I had been missing. Since leaving school, I often longed to partake in such activities and get my body moving whilst having fun and being part of a team. Initially I was hesitant and anxiety held me back. I kept waiting for a friend to become serious and join in on an activity with me, but when that day never came I took a leap and signed up to their group hike for women in Wales. The sisterhood that I was welcomed into and the friendly energy I felt from every lady in the group made me feel right at home instantly and I've since consistently joined in their HYROX, badminton, 5k runs, Pilates and hikes where possible.
I'm so thankful for this group and for the dedication of the organisers. Beyond setting up and planning events, they go above and beyond on the day to make sure that everyone feels included. I'm proud of their efforts and of our community that they are working so hard to bring together. Not many youngsters would commit to something like this all for the benefit of others and the collective.
TPC has created a safe space for me and I'm sure many others to be a part of something and to push themselves out of their comfort zones. The group has provided me with countless opportunities to be physically active as well as socialising; two things I struggled heavily to do myself before and even outside of the group.
Before TPC, I hadn't been active for years and it had become an internal battle. Knowing I just needed a push, feeling anxious to go it alone and needing a companion, or even just not being connected enough to quite enough people for a game of any sort.
My mentality and wellbeing has utterly shifted since the first hike I joined and my confidence is growing again, I enjoy fitness, and I am even eager for more to be a part of.
